Your provider.
Your window.
Your widget.

BarPeek 1.1 brings more personal widgets, automatic refresh, and easier setup. The update is awaiting Apple’s review; these changes will be available when it’s released.

01

A widget for the limit you follow

Choose a provider, a usage window, and % left, % used, or reset time. Available in small and medium sizes, including Cursor’s Grok Bot window.

02

Fresh data, less effort

Usage refreshes automatically while the app is open. Widgets can fetch with the app closed and request updates every 30 minutes, subject to iOS scheduling. Saved data stays visible if a fetch fails, with its age clearly shown.

03

An easier first connection

Paste a server address or a full endpoint URL. BarPeek recognizes supported endpoints, selects the API mode, and previews the connection test. Tokens pasted with “Bearer” work too.

Updating from 1.0? After installing 1.1, open BarPeek once to share your saved connection with the widget. Replace the original BarPeek widget with BarPeek Provider; add separate widgets to follow multiple providers.

Choose how your iPhone reaches CodexBar on your Mac. Start with Tailscale for a private connection, or use Cloudflare Tunnel for your own HTTPS address.

Tailscale A private connection between your Mac and iPhone. Recommended for most people.Recommended
  1. 01

    Connect both devices

Install Tailscale on your Mac and iPhone. Sign in to the same account and connect both. Copy the Mac’s Tailscale IP address, starting with 100.

  2. 02

    Start CodexBar on your Mac

Run CodexBar on that Tailscale address with a connection token. Keep CodexBar running and Tailscale connected on both devices.

  3. 03

    Add it to BarPeek

Use your Mac’s IP in place of 100.x.y.z. Open http://100.x.y.z:8080/health in iPhone Safari; look for "status":"ok". In BarPeek, enter http://100.x.y.z:8080, choose Direct API and Bearer Token, paste your token, then tap Test Connection and Save Server.

Show Mac commands

Use Terminal on your Mac (zsh). If you need a new token, this copies one to your clipboard. Save it in your password manager and reuse it when restarting CodexBar.

openssl rand -hex 32 | pbcopy

Replace 100.x.y.z below with your Mac’s Tailscale IP. Paste the saved token when prompted; it stays hidden.

read -s "CODEXBAR_DASHBOARD_TOKEN?Paste your connection token: "
echo
export CODEXBAR_DASHBOARD_TOKEN
codexbar serve \
  --host 100.x.y.z \
  --port 8080 \
  --allow-plain-http \
  --identity redacted

Keep this Terminal open. The HTTP address is carried inside Tailscale’s encrypted connection. Use the numeric Tailscale IP for this setup; no Tailscale Serve or router port forwarding is needed. If you use custom Tailscale rules, allow your iPhone to reach your Mac on port 8080.

Tailscale quickstart ↗

Cloudflare Tunnel A custom HTTPS address. More setup on your Mac; no Tailscale app needed on your iPhone.

You’ll need a Cloudflare account, a domain on Cloudflare, and cloudflared running on the same Mac as CodexBar.

  1. 01

    Run CodexBar locally

Start CodexBar on 127.0.0.1:8080 with a connection token. Its Dashboard Snapshot endpoint checks this token.

  2. 02

    Create your tunnel

Follow Cloudflare’s setup guide to connect your Mac. Give it a hostname such as codexbar.example.com and publish only the protected snapshot path using the settings below.

  3. 03

    Connect over HTTPS

In BarPeek, enter your hostname, such as https://codexbar.example.com. Choose Dashboard Snapshot and Bearer Token, and paste the same token. Tap Test Connection, then Save Server.

Show Mac commands

If you need a token, create and save one with openssl rand -hex 32 | pbcopy. Then run this in Mac Terminal (zsh), pasting that token when prompted:

read -s "CODEXBAR_DASHBOARD_TOKEN?Paste your connection token: "
echo
export CODEXBAR_DASHBOARD_TOKEN
codexbar serve \
  --host 127.0.0.1 \
  --port 8080 \
  --identity redacted

Keep CodexBar and the tunnel running.

Show required tunnel settings

In your tunnel’s published application route, use your own hostname and these settings:

Hostname
codexbar.example.com (replace with yours)
Path
^/dashboard/v1/snapshot$
Service URL
http://127.0.0.1:8080
HTTP Host Header
127.0.0.1 in Additional application settings
Unmatched paths
Return 404; remove any broader route to this server.

The Host Header setting lets the tunnel reach CodexBar’s local listener. Publish only the snapshot path: local /usage and /cost routes do not check the token. Before using the address, confirm the snapshot returns 401 without a valid token, and /usage and /cost return 404.

This route uses CodexBar’s bearer token for access. BarPeek cannot complete a Cloudflare Access browser sign-in or send Access service-token headers.

Dashboard Snapshot includes usage and cost summaries. Token breakdowns and daily cost history need Direct API mode.

Your Mac needs to stay awake and connected for fresh data. Keep the connection token private; it is separate from your AI provider credentials. Full setup documentation ↗

Bearer credentials are stored in iOS Keychain. Cached app data stays on your device. Read the privacy policy ↗
